Eyes and Mind

Eyes and Mind on where you are going

Are you present when committed to an action? Or are you on autopilot because it is an everyday activity? For example, are you fully present in a meeting, reading, talking with someone, or crossing the street? Are you in the here and now?

Your eyes direct the physical action and ensure that the decided-upon action is clear and safe. However, there is a desire to equivocate, hedge your bets, to wait until you find… the right/best way. By the time you do, the moment will have passed. Be mindful, always prepared and present, and ready to commit. You can course-correct along the way.

Your mind must be ready and engaged in the now. The last few years have been rough. Engaging in nostalgia and remembering what the “good times” were like is excellent, but that’s for cocktail hour and when you’re alone or writing your memoirs. Nostalgia is a slippery slope that takes you out of what’s topical. Patience is equally important; be ready and engage in the direction of the conversation.

When you bring your eyes and mind together, you are most… convincing, engaged, and, most important, AUTHENTIC. Authenticity is what most people aspire to and look for from those who lead.
