AI in your pocket: 2024 is the year of AI appliances.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working alongside the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, has resulted in an innovative method called PockEngine. This approach enables machine-learning algorithms to learn effectively and perpetually from user data directly on edge devices such as smartphones, revolutionizing how artificial intelligence engages with our environment.
In the past, ML (Machine Learning) engines lacked the computing power to update or accurately use the model in real-time. It made devices prohibitively expensive for the mass market to add enough computing power to an edge device. PockEngine could significantly change that.
